Anthropic is merging its separate Claude chat and Cowork interfaces into one window that automatically routes a request to the right tool without switching tabs, the company said, according to TechCrunch.
The unified interface carries over Cowork's collaborative features alongside Artifacts, the Claude Design website and prototype tools introduced in April, and document tools for creating Presentations and Docs that export as PDF or PowerPoint files, TechCrunch reported. Work started on desktop can continue from the mobile app.
The change reaches Pro and Max subscribers first, across web, desktop and mobile, over the coming weeks, with free and team tiers to follow later, according to TechCrunch. It follows an August update that gave Cowork a memory layer to retain context across conversations.
Developer Simon Willison, who writes frequently about Claude's various surfaces, said he had grown "increasingly confused" by the separate Cowork, Claude and Claude Code offerings and called the merge a sign Claude is "becoming a general agent in its own right."
For anyone who has had to explain to a colleague which Claude product does what, one interface that quietly routes the request is less a feature than an overdue fix.
