Ema, a startup that sells teams of AI agents to automate corporate HR, IT and finance work, raised $77 million in a Series B led by Bengaluru-based Creaegis. Existing investors Accel, Section 32 and Prosus increased their stakes, according to TechCrunch and Fintech Global.
The round brings Ema's total funding to $140 million and more than quadruples its valuation from a 2024 round, though the company did not disclose the new figure, TechCrunch reported. Ema said revenue has grown 50-fold over two years and revenue bookings have passed $150 million, with customers including Google, Microsoft, ADP and PwC, according to TechCrunch and Fintech Global.
Ema was founded in 2023 by Surojit Chatterjee, a former Google and Coinbase executive, and Souvik Sen, a former Okta executive, TechCrunch reported. Fintech Global reported that one deployment serves an employee assistant to 240,000 staff across 65 countries handling 2.9 million queries a year, and another connects more than 20 systems for a $50 billion conglomerate's 40,000 employees.
Chatterjee said many of Ema's customers are "already on the way to replace large SaaS applications completely, removing dependency on them," according to TechCrunch.
That is the pitch investors are betting $77 million on: not a tool that sits next to enterprise software, but agents meant to make some of it unnecessary. Whether Ema's numbers hold up as it scales past pilot deployments will say more about that thesis than the funding round does.
