Zenzap raised $44 million co-led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners, with The Garage also participating, according to TechCrunch and Globes.
The company, founded in 2022 and bootstrapped until this round, builds a workplace messaging app that combines group chats, task management and calendar tools with AI voice chat, search and workflow agents, TechCrunch reported. Paid plans start at $51 a month for up to 20 users, with credit-based pricing for the AI features.
Zenzap counts FedEx, Dollar General, Taco Bell, Starbucks, Casey's and Regal among its roughly 50-person team's clients, along with franchises of IHOP and McDonald's, according to TechCrunch. Globes reported the company also serves small and medium-sized businesses, financial institutions and hospitals.
Founder and CEO Guy Weiss said, "You can't use WhatsApp or iMessage within a workplace with the AI agent on top of it because it doesn't comply with IT," according to TechCrunch.
Frontline workers, the people running stores, warehouses and hospital floors, are the segment enterprise software has struggled hardest to reach, because they rarely sit at a desk with Slack open. A messaging app built to replace the app they already use by default, rather than compete with Slack for desk workers, is a narrower and more defensible bet.
